The American Ballet Theatre Presents its 10th Anniversary Season at New York City Center from October 23 to November 4. Two World Premieres, two Company Premieres and six repertory encores will highlight ABT’s 10th Anniversary Season at New York City Center.

An all-new work from dynamic choreographer Jorma Elo celebrates the over-forty year friendship between composer Philip Glass and artist Chuck Close, set to Mr. Glass’ A Musical Portrait of Chuck Close for solo piano, while one of the brightest new talents in the dance world, Benjamin Millepied, sets his bold and original choreography to an ABT-commissioned score by the refreshingly rich musical mind of Nico Muhly.

New to the Company, George Balanchine’s fiendishly difficult Ballo della Regina will be staged by the choreographer’s muse, renowned ballerina Merrill Ashley, and Twyla Tharp draws inspiration from the 1920’s jazz music of master stride pianist Willie “The Lion” Smith for the sheer exhilarating fun of Baker’s Dozen.

Rounding out Fall 2007 are encore presentations of ABT repertory classics including Agnes de Mille’s Fall River Legend, plumbing the depths of the Lizzie Borden story; Jerome Robbins’ exuberant Fancy Free, inspiration for the award-winning musical “On The Town”; Antony Tudor’s hauntingly romantic The Leaves Are Fading; Twyla Tharp’s glamorous ballroom pas de deux, Sinatra Suite; Lar Lubovitch’s meditation on love, Meadow; and Stanton Welch’s stunning showcase for ABT’s acclaimed male dancers, Clear.
