The Nevada Ballet Theatre has received the Nevada Arts Council Governor's Award for "Distinguished Service to the Arts" at a ceremony in the University of Nevada, Reno.The group also collected the Las Vegas Review-Journal's "2007 Best of Las Vegas" Award in the category "Best Performing Arts Group." The Governor's Arts Awards celebrates the excellence of the arts in Nevada by honoring those who have contributed substantially to the enrichment, support or dialogue of the arts in the state. One of the evening's highlights for the 200 guests was the Black Swan Pas de Deux [danced by] Yoomi Lee and Kyudong Kwak. "We were extremely pleased that Nevada Ballet Theatre was represented at the 27th annual Governor's Arts Awards as a recipient of the Distinguished Service Award in performance", said Susan Boskoff, Executive Director of the Nevada Arts Council. Co-Founder and Co-Chair Nancy Houssels and Artistic Director Bruce Steivel, Executive Director Beth Barbre and Development Manager Tim Doyle were on hand to accept the award for Nevada Ballet Theatre. This is the third consecutive year that Nevada Ballet Theatre has won.
