Another masterwork for Murphy

Seven years after creating his iconic Swan Lake, Graeme Murphy returns to The Australian Ballet to premiere Firebird, a richly layered tale of love, enchantment, and the triumph of good over evil.

Using the sublime Stravinsky score as his base, Murphy has collaborated with up-and-coming designer Leon Krasenstein to create a visually stunning new interpretation of this classic Ballets Russes work.

The Firebird and other legends triple bill is completed by Les Sylphides and Petrouchka.

Meet our newest dancers

Each year The Australian Ballet welcomes a fresh crop of dancers into the corps de ballet and farewells those leaving the company to pursue new challenges. Kristy Corea, Noah Gumbert, Luke Marchant, Karen Nanasca and Valerie Tereshchenko took up hard-earned places at the barre at the beginning of 2009, while Tristan Message, Adam Thurlow, Frances Murphy, Melissa Lenehan and Simone Pulga departed to pursue other adventures.
