Choosing Your Food 2007/09/03 23:00 Karma: 1
If the food choices you make cause change for your family, that will be good for everyone. The same foods that support a growing dancer, support everyone's weight maintenance, muscle strength and brain function.

Preparing your own pointe shoes is what you do, so they they will be just right. You wouldn't let anyone else to do it. Because it's a particular ritual that supports how you dance.

Being picky about your foods is a good thing too. While you're younger and growing, desserts and processed foods affect your weight less, or not at all, but those foods do not give you growth or strength. You will still grow and develop muscle, but your muscles will be like the cheap hamburger instead of the filet mignon, even though your skin hides the difference. Sorry if that's gross. You know what I mean.

So parties and going out with friends aside, on a daily basis, educate yourself and choose.

Another aspect of choosing the right foods, is the information in the book "Eat Right For Your Blood Type". (go through the search box on the books page and you'll be directed to this book).

While it seems to many as an overwhelming micro-management of one's diet, it presents a strong case for the best digestion and assimilation of proteins, grains, and other foods that affect muscle strength, cardio-vascular capabilities and effective digestion.

The site http://www.4yourtype.com provides some insights into this diet management system. You can even order a home blood test to determine your blood type.

If you feel too full, sleepy, or full too long, after eating a healthy meal, consider at least getting this book from the library and learning about this topic. It is good for the whole family.
